Kelly AlMuhairi on Life Changing Benefits of Levels 4 and 5 Diploma in Education Studies (Degree Pathway)

Early Childhood Education

“It Changed Everything”

For Kelly AlMuhairi, a passionate educator based in Abu Dhabi, the decision to pursue Level 4 and 5 qualifications in early childhood education wasn’t just about ticking a box — it was about rewriting her entire professional journey. After years of teaching in the UAE, Kelly found herself at a crossroads when new regulations required an early years-specific qualification. What followed was a whirlwind of study, sacrifice, and growth — and ultimately, a fulfilling career transformation.

A Response to Changing Regulations

The catalyst for Kelly’s transition came when rumours began circulating that KG teachers in the UAE would require formal early childhood degrees.

“I’d been teaching KG1, and the whispers started — you’ll need an early childhood qualification. I didn’t want to risk losing my job, so I started researching.”

Choosing iQe & TQUK Level 4 and 5

After careful research, Kelly discovered iQe Academy and their partnership with TQUK. She immediately enrolled in the TQUK Level 4 and TQUK Level 5 programs, which are recognized as equivalent to the first two years of a UK undergraduate degree.

“I took a pay cut just to be able to study. That’s how committed I was to getting qualified the right way.”

Seamless Path to Degree & Beyond

Kelly’s Level 4+5 completion opened the door to a top-up degree at Anglia Ruskin University, and later, a PGCE and a Master’s degree in education — all within just a few years.

“It was non-stop. I worked full-time, studied, and took care of my kids — but within a year, I had everything I needed to start my bachelor’s. I even completed my PGCE module right after.”

Family, Sacrifice & Juggling Multiple Roles

Kelly’s story is a reminder of the personal sacrifices many educators make to grow professionally.

“I’d be in tutorials on weekends, at Chuck E. Cheese with my kids playing around me, or on the sidelines of a rugby pitch with headphones in — but I made it work.”

Exceptional Support from iQe

Unlike her later academic experiences, Kelly recalls iQe’s environment as warm, responsive, and flexible.

“Katie, our tutor, would answer questions anytime. Even late Friday sessions felt like a safe space. That level of support made all the difference.”

Empowerment Through Knowledge

The iQe curriculum didn’t just prepare Kelly for assessments — it gave her practical knowledge that made her feel confident in the classroom.

“When I started my degree, everything I had learned from iQe came back. I still had all the notes and remembered every theory. It gave me a huge head start.”

Navigating Equivalency and UAE Requirements*

Getting qualifications accepted in the UAE can be daunting, but Kelly successfully navigated the MOE’s equivalency process.

“Once I submitted the original documents and my diplomas, it was approved in 24 hours. The iQe route worked — it was recognized without a problem.”

Breaking Barriers & Standing Out in Interviews

Despite having a strong CV, Kelly faced questions about her nationality and qualifications in interviews. But her iQe Academy and university credentials helped her stand out.

“Some asked about my passport, but I knew my qualifications were solid. I was able to confidently say, ‘Yes, I meet ADEK requirements.’”

Career Growth, Stability & Fulfilment

Today, Kelly teaches FS2 at Wales International School and feels professionally fulfilled — but the biggest reward, she says, is stability and growth for her family.

“I now have proper holidays, a decent salary, and a career that aligns with my children’s school schedule. That matters a lot as a mom.”

A Launchpad for Future Leadership

The Level 4+5 program wasn’t just a solution — it became a springboard for long-term leadership roles and career expansion.

“I’m now thinking about leadership, possibly opening my own nursery one day, or becoming a careers advisor. These qualifications give you those options.”

The Power to Inspire Others

Kelly now advises others who are unsure about taking the leap — and she shares her path openly to help others grow.

“So many have come to me saying they don’t know where to start. I always say: start with Level 4 and 5. Do your research, ask questions, and know that it’s worth it.”

Real Learning for Real Classrooms

One of the most valuable outcomes for Kelly was the real-world application of everything she studied.

“When you’re learning theories that actually come up in your classroom the next day — that’s when you know your education is working.”

Final Thoughts from Kelly:

“Level 4 and 5 with iQe didn’t just qualify me. It changed my mindset. It gave me options. It made me a better educator, a better mother, and a better professional.”

“I worked full-time, studied nights, and raised two kids. iQe made it possible.”

With iQe’s support, she completed Level 4 & 5 in under a year, fast-tracked into a UK top-up degree, and went on to complete a PGCE and pursue a master’s — all while continuing to teach.
